Flora and fauna
At Pumakawa the wild animals in recovery live together with the native plants that grow in different parts of the land.
The animals in recovery at Pumakawa form a part of what we designate as “our herd”. Each animal has his story. Often they are stories of being pets or of previous maltreatment, which will not allow them to be reintroduced to the wild.
Learn about each of them here. At Pumakawa we relate to them as equals and we also consider them as our teachers. They allow us to develop our understanding of what we have to overcome as human beings, our capacity to heal ourselves together with them, the virtues of patience, perseverance and compassion.
In each treatment that we carry out to return them to wellbeing It is a process we go through together. Listening to them, observing and finding out who they are as individuals is an inner journey, in which our microscopy is our intuition. Many of the animals in our care have exceeded their life expectation. They have even reproduced while they have been with us.
